Introduction Paragraph

Adult Response

In looking at your work I would like to compliment you on the following 2 things:

In the last 6 weeks of school I will help you reach your goals by:

TASK: What was I asked to do for this assignment?

INTENT: Why am I completing this assignment?

CRITERIA: How do I know what I needed to do to be successful in completing this assignment?

My Subjects

Math

Term 1 Reflection

In term one we learned about ratio, rate, and proportion. In this unit, we had to take an original Sesame Street video and turn it into our own using the rate, ratio, and proportion. After that unit, we did Pythagoras. We learned about square numbers and square roots. Also in these units, we had to do scribe posts and leave comments at the blog. The scribe posts at the blog helped me with some of the work we were doing in class because i got to see different ways of doing the math problems and I would use one for myself. Another thing we did this term was textbook work and the homework book. This term, I got good marks because I completed work on time and got good marks on my tests and quizzes. I did most, but not all of the textbook work that was assigned.

Term 2 Reflection

In term 2, we learned about percent, surface area and volume. I did very well understanding the work that we were given and that showed greatly on my tests and quizzes by getting perfect or almost perfect. In term 2 I didn't necessarily struggle with commenting on the blog, I was just being a lazy teenager and not commenting like I should have. Next term I will make sure that I comment on all the blog posts posted for this term and try and get perfect on all of my tests and quizzes to reach the highest mark possible. We did a lot of work with percentages, surface area and volume. The tax in Manitoba it 12%, 5% GST and 7% PST. You have to find out what 12% of your price is and then what ever that number is you add that onto your original price and it will come to your total. I learned that surface area is measured in square units like cm^2 or km^2. I also learned how to get the surface area by taking the shape you have apart, finding the area of the sides, then adding them all together to get the total surface area or "TSA". I also learned about volume, like learning how to get the volume of a cylindrical, rectangular or triangular prism. To find the volume of a rectangular prism you have to use the formula V= LxWxH. To find the volume of a triangular prism you use the formula V= BxH/2xH, and finally the formula for the cylinder was V= (pi.r.r)xH.

The Man who planted trees
How does The Man Who Planted Trees relate to us, to me, to the school and to the local community? The man who planted trees relates to us, to me, and the economy because we are currently trying to make the earth a better place to live and we are also trying to plant more trees because trees produce oxygen. But along the way we cut down so many trees we have to replant one in its place. What motivates people and organizations in their approach to the environment? Consider the following factors: money, publicity, votes, community benefits, prizes and awards? What limits their ability to be “green?” The positive outcomes motivate the people to help the environment such as how it will improve their lifestyle and how it will benefit their community. Organizations are motivated to help the community by the publicity and money that could come from their actions. People running for a government position might be motivated by getting more voets. Money, limits people’s ability to be “green.” What are the document character’s attitudes towards the forest?
